Boca VS River Plate

Analysis of Boca Juniors

Boca Juniors has presented a lot of quality in the Argentinean Championship and on Copa Libertadores. At this moment they lead the national competition and have easily qualified for the next stage of Copa Libertadores by totally dominating their group and scoring many goals.
In the first knockout round of Libertadores they have met their eternal rivals River Plate, in a very hard match, with thigh marking, a lot of fouls and at times very violent. Therefore Boca Juniors have not been able to show their offensive quality and were effectively dominated throughout the match.
They now need to overcome their opponent’s defence to qualify, which as seen on the first match will not be easy, since River have shown defensive competence and proved they are willing to do anything to stop Boca’s attack. Therefore, we expect yet another violent match with tight and hard marking.

Analysis of River Plate

River Plate have already played a very defensive match in the first leg and are likely to do it again in the second leg.
Another reason to expect a defensive strategy is that River Plate has already guaranteed an advantage, so in this away game they may decide to maintain the 0-0 for as long as possible or even control a 1-0 loss until the end of the match.
Their main feature is their toughness and determination, which have guaranteed an heroic qualification in the group stage and a win over their rivals in the first leg.
Probable Line-up: Marcelo Barovero; Mercado, German Pezzella, Ramiro Funes Mori and Vangioni; Carlos Sánchez, Ponzio, Pisculichi (Augusto Solari) and Ariel Rojas; Teófilo Gutiérrez and Rodrigo Mora (Cavenaghi)
Coach: Marcelo Gallardo

Confirmed Lineup: M. Barovero, J. Maidana, E. Mammana, Ramiro Funes Mori, L. Vangioni, G. Martínez, C. Sánchez, M. Kranevitter, L. Ponzio, R. Mora, S. Driussi.
Coach: M. Gallardo.

Betting suggestion:

Both teams are usually very defensive. Moreover, the context of the match, with thight and hard marking, will make it harder for strikers to score. To score against a defensive River Plate is not an easy task, so we expect a match with few goal oportunities.
